I’ve always loved being a family photographer, but after I had Shep, I felt like I gained a lot of confidence interacting with kids. I know what silly sounds make them laugh and what games to play to make them feel comfortable. For some people those skills come naturally, but for me it took a little while.

I love being a wedding photographer but it has been fun to add family sessions to the mix. So when Amy reached out about doing a family session in Athens I was all in. We decided to meet at the Botanical Gardens because they are beautiful this time of year. During the summer I always recommend early morning sessions, just to beat the Georgia heat. We got there right as the Botanical Gardens opened at 8 and it was the perfect temperature – although a little muggy.

The gardens have tons of different spots so you get a lot of variety in one location. The lawns are so well kept and it makes for the perfect backdrop for almost any type of session. Their son VJ is a month older than Shep and I was AMAZED at how much more hair he had. He had the cutest little cheeks and had fun exploring the grass. Check out these cutie Georgia fans!
