I took dance lessons for a couple years when I was six years old, but ultimately chose soccer as my sport of choice. I never thought twice about choosing soccer over dance until I saw a dancer on pointe. I remember thinking the ballerina’s were so beautiful and elegant. It has always been a dream to be able to dance on pointe.
Sadly, that dream has not come true, but I do still think dancers are stunning, and I still silently wish it didn’t take years of practice to be able to go on pointe so I could walk around on my tip-toes whenever I wanted to. But that’s not the point of this blog post.

I was thrilled when Payton asked if I could take some pictures of her in some of her favorite costumes for the Nutcracker. It has been on my photography bucket list to photograph a dancer and Payton was the perfect model. Considering I only took dance for 2 years, when I was 6, it was no surprise that a lot of the poses and positions I did not remember. Payton did a great job of posing perfectly, even with my very vague direction.
It was so fun to watch her and how much control she had while dancing. She makes it look effortless. Below are some of my favorites from the session. I really loved this and am looking forward to having more dance session soon!
